Deep inside the old Seletar Airbase is Sunset Grill. If you’ve never been, it’s not easy to find. Even cabbies who’ve never been get lost going around Seletar in circles. Streetdirectories online, including SLA’s map.gov.sg, don’t reflect the new roads.
Being in the middle of a former army base, Sunset Grill is really peaceful and really makes one feel that they are far away from the hustle and bustle of city life. The rustic old world charm of this place is unspoilt whereby the place is set up with very plain tables and plastic stools! All under the branches of a very old tree. The alfresco area is really the only place to sit, the only thing i marked down for ambience was the presence of mosquitoes though there were mosquitoes coils around.
We had buffalo wings level 1 wing as we had consideration for our 10 years old daughter. But surprisingly, it was quite a no sweat for her though it’s quite spicy. Wow! Salute to this young lady! Because of its sourish nature, the wings has really an acquired taste.

The button mushrooms were fresh but I did not like the batter. I prefer my mushrooms in bread crumbs. But these were juicy nonethless. Crinkle cut cheesy fries is good for 4-5 people.

The mini burgers also make good food with beer. We also had the roasted lamb recommended by an enthusiastic staff ut I did find the dish quite disappointing as some pieces of the meat seem quite undone. Overall, the food is OK only – not spectacular, and I think it’s more for the atmosphere than the food that people come. Service was adequate and service staff called for a cab for us upon request.
