Me and dear brought our kids to the newly opened Tampines1.We ate at Manpuku Japanese Gourmet Town, at the third level. Manpuku here is a new Japanese food hall concept which brings ten of Japan’s established brands such as BOTEJYU, YOSHIMI, AOBA. The place has an atmosphere reminiscent of Edo street stalls. There are country-style booths, bamboo partitions and a narrow gallery decorated with photos and mirrors. One section is even gaily trussed up with plastic sakura blooms.
We can’t try all the ten stalls. Dear, Nick and Mandy had ramen from AOBA HOKKAIDO RAMEN. Dear commented his Sho-yu TanToro Ramen (which is among Hokkaido’s top 3 choices) is just pretty average. The soup is adequately salty but a little lacking in robustness.

Sammi and I ordered from TOKU TOKU. I loved the Seafood Kimchi Nabeyaki Udon! The udon is more springy in texture than most and the soup is just full of flavours! We enjoyed a few selection of skewered items from SESSON JAPANESE GRILL.

But FRUIT PARADISE a real disappointment! We didn’t get to try the fruit tarts as the Q is super long, with a super long wait! The Q is just not moving! I managed to get to the front of the line to see just what is killing my time. Upon seeing the staff taking the “Taiji” way of slicing the tarts, I gave up! So that’s why! And that’s bad…………
