Legends told of the Kitchen God returning to heaven on the 24th day of the lunar month 12 to give reports on the households on earth. Chinese people usually arrange for offerings in the kitchens consisting of “Nian Gao”, a sweet jelly cake, to sweeten the Kitchen God’s mouth (ensuring the Kitchen God gives good ’sweet’ reports and thus brings good fortune to the household in the following year). Ha………………..EAT SWEET, SWEET!
